VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR – Full Time

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Age Friendly Cold Lake (AFCL) is a local non-profit society committed to making life better for older people in our area.  Along with our other programs and services, we provide support to enhance the overall well-being of seniors in the Cold Lake area (i.e., City of Cold Lake, east portion of the M.D. of Bonnyville).  We use volunteers to help in the delivery of these services and we are seeking an energetic, passionate, and organized individual to manage the volunteer component of our organization.  

The Volunteer Coordinator will work with, and under the direction of, the Program Developer in providing that support.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with staff to determine volunteer needs.
  • Manage the recruitment, training, and recognition of volunteers for the various programs and services provided by AFCL.
  • Assist with the development of volunteer training programs.
  • Maintain personnel files for all volunteers.
  • Network with local organizations to develop partnerships that develop or utilize volunteers.
  • Assist with development of a volunteer budget.
  • Produce a monthly report outlining volunteer hours and activities.
  • Produce a monthly volunteer newsletter.
  • Work with the AFCL Link Workers to match volunteers with clients who require volunteer support services.

    Other duties may be required to ensure the success of Age Friendly Cold Lake’s programs and services. 

WORK LOCATION AND SCHEDULE

This is a full-time position (35 hours/week).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Past experience working with volunteers.  
  • Experience working with seniors would be an asset.  
  • Commitment and passion for the work, and an understanding of the value of and appreciation for the role of community volunteers. 

OTHER

  • Must provide your own vehicle.  Work-related mileage will be reimbursed.
  • Must complete an RCMP check (vulnerable sector) and sign an agency confidentiality agreement. 

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Must be computer literate and be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Google apps.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and success in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.  Strong leadership and organizational skills.
