About a year ago, I came across Age Friendly while browsing online. I have a volunteer navigator and I make sure to attend their monthly group sessions. Recently, I’ve decided to utilize more of their services like transportation, the meal program, and housekeeping. Age Friendly truly understands the challenges we face as we age. Having access to these services has been a relief for me, I feel supported in a way that I have never experienced. Without Age Friendly, I would feel hopeless, and it would affect my well-being. This is why I recommend them to anyone in the community who needs a helping hand. They are compassionate and provide a safe and welcoming environment, and they deeply care about making a difference in seniors’ lives.

I learned about Age Friendly through the lodge back in 2021, and since then they have been like family to me. I use the friendly visiting program and in-town transportation. Before I found them, things were challenging but their support has given me so much peace of mind. It is a huge relief to know that I can reach out anytime, this makes me feel valued and supported. They show that they care and recognize that seniors’ needs are important. One thing that stands out to me is that they have treated me like family and have always considered my whole situation. Age Friendly Cold Lake has become an essential part of my life and I have recommended them to others on several occasions.

I was introduced to Age Friendly Cold Lake through Home Care. I have been using their services for the last few years. I attend the monthly luncheons and I have a volunteer navigator accompanying me to doctor’s appointments and shopping trips. Since I can't drive, AFCL services are important for me as they're easily accessible. These services make me feel good about myself and support me. I do not know what I would do without these services, I would have trouble finding help. I recommend Age Friendly to others in the community, having my volunteer navigator has improved my quality of life. “I have nothing bad to say” about Age Friendly Cold Lake, they have been a great support for me, and I would be lost without their services.

I came across Age Friendly a few months ago, thanks to a recommendation from the lodge. I have been actively involved in their programming including the luncheons, Minds in Motion, out-of-town transportation, and volunteer navigator services. Along with making it to my doctor appointments, I have found new friends and have built connections which are important to me. Access to these services has lifted my mood and I can’t imagine life without them. I wholeheartedly, recommend Age Friendly Cold Lake to anyone looking for a warm, friendly atmosphere.

I was referred to Age Friendly by a friend in the community, and I have been attending their monthly luncheons and Minds in Motion program ever since. These services and programs have allowed me to meet new people, and everyone is friendly and welcoming. Without the support of these services, I would find it challenging to access social activities and connect with others. The services from Age Friendly have been helpful, particularly during times of crisis and I am grateful for their support.

When I was in Cold Lake Hospital in 2023, one of the staff asked if I wanted to talk to someone about getting help when I went home. I don’t have a volunteer Navigator, but I do drive and even volunteer to drive others. I also take part in programs like Housekeeping, Feast of Friendship, and Minds in Motion. I use these services because I’m handicapped, and they’re so convenient—it truly makes a difference. Honestly, I don’t know what I would have done without a cleaner; it’s filled a real problem-solving void in my life. I’m so grateful for these programs, and I recommend them to anyone I think could benefit from them. The staff are always warm and friendly, and if you need something, they do their best to help. The service is just great!

I first learned about Age Friendly Cold Lake from my daughter, Connie. I have a wonderful volunteer named Lisa, and we do all sorts of things together—going to the casino, shopping, having lunch, and enjoying recreational activities. She even helps me with computer issues when I need it. I’ve also used local transportation and housekeeping services because I need assistance, especially after my wife passed away in 2020. It was tough doing things on my own, but AFCL has made a huge difference in my life. It keeps me connected to a group, which I really appreciate. With my daughters living away and my son busy working in the oilfield and taking care of his family, it helps to have someone to spend time with. I’ve already recommended AFCL to others—it’s a great way to get out and socialize with people beyond just family. And Ehab was wonderful; he helped me with the interview to get into the Lodge, which I’m really grateful for.

I first learned about AFCL last year while chatting with a man on the handibus, where he shared the many benefits of their services. Currently, I use their frozen meals and housekeeping programs, which are both convenient and cost-friendly, while also giving Hazel a much-needed break. These services make life more manageable and bring a sense of relief, as they help me stay on top of daily tasks. Being connected to AFCL feels like a privilege, and I appreciate knowing I can reach out to them for support whenever needed. I’d highly recommend AFCL to friends and neighbors, and I’ve already done so, though I think adding a handyman service would be a great addition to their offerings.
